In retrospect, that was a mistake for all of the reasons I listed above. less expensive, more features and bells and whistles than the industry standard, Pro Tools. I have been in the music recording industry for a long time, and when I first got into it, I standardized on the Cubase/Nuendo software platform for some of the same reasons that you are considering Photoline. I know a lot of the PS plugins will work with PSP and other programs, but in the end, it was an easy decision for me. Even though I considered other programs (and Photoline seems like a fine program), in the end, I realized that I wanted to be 100% in the mainstream. I am sure that there are other comparable programs from a feature perspective, and since PS if the main target, a lot of them are going to try to do PS a "one better" approach when it comes to some of the specs (the number of layers, for example) since that is the only way they differentiate their product and entice new users. It is the overwhelming industry standard, and for me, that makes it easier to learn and to find resources and plugins that will help me improve my PP skills. One of the reasons that I recently went with PS CS5 over upgrading my current PSPX3 is that PS is so ubiquitous that you can find support, books, tutorials and tons of help at every turn. It definitely should be considered as an alternative if Adobe's new upgrade program becomes to onerous. It is a mature and efficient program that speaks well of the two programmer brothers. The following website has a nice list of most of the features availableĪll things considered it is definitely an affordable and useful program for the enthusiast and probably professional photographer/ retoucher. I've only had the program for a couple of days, and tested it for a few hours, so far the only surprises have been of the pleasant nature. You can use the controls from each colorspace to your advantage, without it being a 3 to 5 five step back and forth procedure. I might want to color correct in RBG, then use Lab for a sharpening or Shadow/Highlight layer. I enjoy the ability to edit as I see fit from layer to layer. In photoshop you have 15 adjustment layers available, Photoline has 41. In Photoline most of the features have their own preset procedures, in other words you can have a dozen presets in the sharpening layer, a dozen in the white point layer etc. Presets are are a wonderful time saver, but the lists get terribly long and unwieldy in the Adobe product. In photoshop many of the preview windows are postage stamp sized, photoline offers you the ability to change the size of the preview window to a useful size, plus the preview wndow offers a before and after view of your edits in realtime. Your hand never leaves the mouse.Īnother feature that I find pleasant and useful, is the preview window. In photoline you click the command key and move your mouse to change the size. Most of the program features are as well implemented (or better) as Photoshop.įor instance to change a brush size in Photoshop, without going to the menu bar, one must depress two keys. Some items that are a plus for Photoline is the price 59 Euros. Photoline can be compared to Adobe Camera Raw/Lightroom with photoshop layer and mask capabilities. 17 to take advantage of their 30 day fully functional free trial.

What makes a regular electric grid a “smart” grid? It comes down to digital technologies that enable “two-way communication between the utility and its customers, and the sensing along the transmission lines,” according to. The grid currently has more than 9,200 electric generating units with more than 1 million megawatts of generating capacity connected to more than 300,000 miles of transmission lines, according to the article. The country’s electric grid was largely built in the 1890s and enhanced throughout the ensuing decades as technology evolved, according to an article on. “The large number of non-utility stakeholders and increasing number of devices connected to smart grids means that - even in the best of circumstances - secure operations can no longer be guaranteed by a single organization or security department.” “While the distributed nature of many new technologies diminishes the criticality of any single asset, the informational capabilities inherent to these devices carry vulnerabilities that were unknown previously,” NIST states. As the National Institute of Standards and Technology notes in a draft publication, “ NIST Framework and Roadmap for Smart Grid Interoperability Standards,” in the traditional electrical grid, “power flows in one direction - from centralized generation facilities, through transmission lines, and finally to the customer via distribution utilities.”Įssentially, though, the connected nature of smart grids - what makes them valuable - also increases their vulnerability. However, investment in smart grid technology also brings risks. Meanwhile, smart meters can enable cities and utilities to better align energy supply and demand. IoT sensors and real-time communication enable smart grids featuring controllable energy loads, which can help shift energy supply in times of peak demand. Yet smart grids and city buildings that are connected in smart cities can save money for municipalities by being more efficient about how and when they use electricity and other forms of energy. IDC does think that smart grids’ relative importance will decrease over time as the market matures and other use cases become mainstream. Special attention is paid to operation control, stochastic optimization, and introduction of the digital twins to achieve higher resilience in future energy systems of smart cities.īT - Solving urban infrastructure problems using smart city technologies.Despite a great deal of attention around Internet of Things sensors for smart parking and traffic management, smart grids (electricity and gas combined) still attract the largest share of investments in smart cities, according to research firm IDC. They both join forces in order to save her son. Danny is taken away, while Johnny wakes up in a nearby hospital the next day and confronts Nadya, who is also there. The Rider senses the great evil in Danny and attempts to kill him, but Nadya distracts him long enough for Carrigan to knock him out with a grenade launcher. He arrives just as Carrigan is about to kill Nadya, and kills two of his men. Sensing this, Johnny unleashes the Rider (having held it in for some time) and transforms. Their leader, Ray Carrigan ( Johnny Whitworth), takes Danny after a struggle and attempts to execute Nadya. Nadya and Danny are found by the mercenaries, who drive their car off the highway and crash it. Johnny initially refuses to help Moreau locate the mother and her son, but after he is promised that Moreau's ancient order can exorcise the curse from his soul, he agrees. Moreau seeks out Johnny, who has been living in isolation in an abandoned village. Trying to protect Nadya and her son, Moreau is driven off a cliff before he shoots the mercenaries' tires, delaying them before they can go after Danny and Nadya. Moreau chases after them, as well as the mercenaries. At that moment, mercenaries hired by Roarke breach the castle and kill all of the monks except for Moreau, while the mother, Nadya ( Violante Placido) and her son Danny escape. In the present, a drunken priest named Moreau ( Idris Elba) attempts to warn the order of monks residing in a castle that the Devil has sent out forces to retrieve a certain boy and his mother hiding there, despite the head monk's ( Anthony Head) reassurances of their safety. However, his father dies regardless, and having two minds fighting for control over his new powers, Johnny attempts to stay as far away from mankind as possible, hiding out in Eastern Europe (Romania). Johnny now hosts an entity called 'The Rider', a fiery demon who punishes sinners, no matter how petty the crimes are. When he discovered that his father's death is impending, he makes a deal with a man named Roarke ( Ciarán Hinds) who claims to be the Devil in exchange for his soul and a curse to be set upon him. Johnny Blaze ( Nicolas Cage) was a former stunt rider who often teamed up with his father on various stunts. There is a bicep curl crunch in this workout, you sit on the ground and crunch back holding a dumbbell at forehead level. The core work is really good too because it incorporates your arms. My favorite strength workout of phase 1 would have to be AAA. At the end of each workout I feel so accomplished because I would rather be running. But they are so hard for me which is why I love to hate them. Well okay, cross training is all important, but cardio workouts train your lungs in a different way and require a quick turn over in a different way than running does. My least favorite workouts are the cardio ones, however those are the most important ones when it comes to running. I’m looking forward to the new warm-up and the exercise switch up. I took a sneak peek at the tracker and we start moving into some more compound moves this phase. Today is booty day and word on the street is we get to use weights. Heading into phase two we get all new exercises, same format with reps and sets but all new exercises. They never know what to expect so it is very unlikely to plateau. Thank goodness the program is written this way because mentally, I can play so many games with this structure. Except we change it up even more and you work the eccentric muscle contractions one week. Same concept as the other weeks I talked about. You guessed it, three sets, 10 reps each. You do 90 reps each block and it’s a killer! Week 4 was my favorite week to hate because on booty day becomes the day of 90. Week 4 was another 2×15 week (to measure progress and bookend the phase) but instead we completed each block of work two times through. In week 1 we completed every exercise then went back through them all again. Fifteen reps of each exercises, two times through. Even though it’s basically the same workouts, we change how we perform the workouts each week. I like that because then you can master the moves. once you get to 10 complete each 10 two more times through.Įach phase has their own set of exercises. 10 exercises, start at exercise one, then two, then one-two-three, then one-two-three-four etc. Legs – need I say more? We also do core work with some of the leg exercisesĬardio Flow – pyramid style workout. At the end of the workout you complete rounds of just the core exercises.ĪAA – stands for Arms, Abs & Ass (sorry mOm) – each block of work has an arm, core and booty exercise & you use weights and I think sliders Cardio Core – 60 seconds of HIIT exercises followed by core work with sliders. Only resistance bands are used and this is one of the toughest workouts of the week. Total Body Core – works all muscle groups & uses bands, sliders and dumbbells The 6 workouts don’t change throughout the program: just being able to squeeze in my 30 minute workouts. The hour long workouts were rough getting use to. Each workout is typically 45-60 minutes long. Phase one was 27 days long with 6 workouts a week. BUT….I don’t have anything to really worry about.Ĩ0DO is broken down into three phases and peak week at the very end. Not saying whatsoever that doing this program will make you pregnant, no exercise program in itself can do that. Not going to lie, now that I’m postpartum again and the pattern has been, I’m a little nervous. I’ve started it twice, once when I got pregnant with my angel babe, and then I started after my miscarriage but got pregnant with Anna. The workouts are longer, you are working with specific sets and reps instead of going for time, and it’s 80 days long! I haven’t committed to anything like that in a long time. I knew this workout program was going to be tough. This program is known for building core and booty strength which are 2 of the 3 major muscles needed for running. The hybrid calendar was awesome to get back into things but a longer program is where I see progress. I’m so glad I went with this program instead of jumping around. April 1st I committed to an 80 day strength training program to start building a base for half marathon training. Friday night at 10:00 PM I wrapped up phase one of 80 Day Obsession (80DO). I know from experience that it only takes about 20 minutes to copy 100+ envelopes, which is about how long it would take you to troubleshoot mail merge. If you’re not familiar with mail merge, the simplest thing to do is just copy and paste your addresses by hand. Keep doing this until you’ve filled in all the pages of your envelope template. Scroll to page 2 and click in the upper left hand corner of the page. If you make too many, it’ll bog down your Word doc and you’ll have trouble with it freezing and crashing.) (I recommend creating no more than 25 pages per document. Click approximately 15-20 times to add more pages. Hit End on your keyboard (this will add the blank pages after the existing page). You should see a blinking cursor in the upper left hand corner of the page. Then click anywhere on the white page that’s not inside a text box. To copy your page, click in the gray margin outside the page. Once you have your template looking exactly how you like it, you’ll want to duplicate the pages so you can print several at once. When it’s time to print, you’ll print the front side of your envelopes first, then flip them over and print the back side. If you’d prefer to put it on the back, follow the same steps to create a second template in a brand new document. Or you can head to dafont or Font Squirrel to look at other free options.Ī note on return addresses: In this example I put the return address on the front of the envelope for simplicity’s sake. Here are a few of our favorite calligraphy fonts: Ideally, you might want to choose 1-2 fonts that match your wedding invitations so everything looks uniform. I think envelopes look best with a combination of calligraphy, sans serif and serif fonts. One of the reasons we don’t use the “envelope” functionality already in Word is because this way allows us to use custom fonts, graphics and layouts. calligraphy names get a box, while serif addresses get a separate box). I prefer to create one text box for each style of text (ie. Once you’ve added your first text box, just click on the outer edge so there’s a solid black line around it, then hit Ctrl + C and Ctrl + V to duplicate it. To remove the black outline around the text box, click on the text box and go to Format > Shape Outline > No Outline. Draw a text box in the center of your document, making sure to leave plenty of room in for postage stamps and a return address at the top. Enter the size of your envelope in the Width and Height fields and click OK. Go to Page Layout > Size > More Paper Sizes. Create a Word documentĬreate a Word document that’s the exact same size as your envelopes: If you don’t know what size envelopes you need, this handy chart can help you choose the right ones. If you can’t find that info on the packaging, just break out a ruler and measure.įor our invitations, we recommend A7 envelopes which are 5.25″x7.25” but this could vary depending on the size of your invites. Hopefully you’ve figured this out already, but you need to know exactly how big your envelopes are (in inches or centimeters) with the flap closed. Although it’s fine for business printing, it’s definitely not what you want for wedding envelopes or fancy stationery.įor that, we need to get a little creative. While most word processing software gives you an “envelope” option, I’ve found that it’s usually bulky and basic looking. If done correctly, printing your own envelopes should be exactly like printing a piece of paper. Just follow this tutorial and you’ll never have to address another envelope by hand for as long as you both shall live. Run off as many copies as you need, then re-purpose that baby to work for thank you notes, holiday cards, you name it. At $3+ an envelope, why not put your credit card away and make an envelope template (or snag our A7 envelope template for free!) that you can print at home. I hate to say it, especially since I’ve been known to dabble in calligraphy a time or two, but hiring a professional calligrapher to address your wedding invitations is such a waste of money. Wondering where to buy envelopes? We love Cards and Pockets.
